Approach like the Pros

VOLLEYBALL APPROACH LIKE THE PROS

I don't know if you've ever had the pleasure of playing beach volleyball. I remember the first time I stepped on the beach in Hermosa Beach, CA.

I'm from the Midwest and the Hermosa Beach sand was so much deeper than what I was used to. It was a challenge just to walk down the beach!

You can't watch pro beach players play without admiring their athletism.

When you approach to hit in deep sand, your technique must be good or you won't be able to get up out of the sand. You must be strong and your steps must be quick.

Your footwork and how you use your arms is very important to getting the most out of your jump. This is true for both on the beach and indoor. It's just more obvious on the beach.

If you go at playing indoor with the same mindset (quick, strong, explosive movement), you will have a big advantage over other players that don't have that mindset.

On the beach, you must have good footwork and use your arms when you jump. When playing indoor, using this footwork and arms will give you an edge over those players that don't.

On the following page I take a look at how pro beach volleyball players Emanuel Rego and Sean Rosenthal approach to hit.

Follow this link for my perspective on keys to jumping high and hitting hard.
