PROPRIOCEPTION IN VOLLEYBALL

Have you ever wondered why you can take an approach without watching your feet, spike a ball without focusing on your hand, or pass without watching your arms?

The reason is "proprioception".

You can think of proprioception as the skill of determining where your body parts are at any moment in time.

Proprioception is basically made up of 3 things,
1) Balance,
2) A sense of joint position and
3) Body awareness.

What's really cool is that proprioception can be trained.

One-leg exercises such as single leg squats and single leg jumps improve proprioception and balance.

It's also important to understand how ankle braces affect proprioception.

Visit the following page for exercises and techniques on improving proprioception.
